about

Just a Moment’ talks to themes of loss, the process of grief and the precious memories of a loved one, these are themes we can all relate to. It is intended to be both melancholy and uplifting as the first verse touches on the initial sorrow and questions, then to the final verse which speaks of treasured memories and the acceptance that it is ok to hold on to memories and that in the end, if we saw each other again we would only want to say “I loved you”

The song is carried by a solitary electric guitar and piano, underpinned by a rhythm section of double bass, bongo’s and handclaps allowing the melody to take centre stage. Just a Moment also features some vocal harmonies courtesy of my good friend Paul Coulton from the Coulton Brothers.

lyrics

Take a look at what you might have been
Saying nothing when you should have screamed
It’s all gone now In the sky
Just a moment Please don’t cry

And I loved you more than U ever knew

Retrospect has been a selfish friend
Memories my server cannot send,
It’s all gone now In the sky
Just a moment time don’t cry

And I miss you more than I ever knew

Photographs and songs are everything
What I’d tell you if I could just sing,
for a moment in the sky
Just a moment, please don’t cry

And I miss you more than I, ever knew
BecauseI loved you more than I, ever knew
